Description

This is an updated version of the tattoo I hope to get (when I can scrounge the money one of these days). This isn't actually the whole thing. The bottom half of it is on another sheet of paper. The roots of the tree twists into the names of my immediate family. This is still a base for everything and there are still things I have yet to add, but this is the basic gyst of it.

Objects/Meanings

Tree: Essentially it represents me. The roots represent my family, the people who created me and support me through life, my past. The hands at the end of the branches represent hope, reaching for my future.

Snakes: Ouroboros, an ancient symbol for eternity. Two snakes biting each other's tails, creating an endless circle or chain.

Phoenix: The symbol of rebirth, clutching the ancient egyptian Ankh, the symbol for rebirth, life, and fertility.

Mermaid: Not in this picture, but will be added later (though it is in the older version). She represents the origins of my name (named after the Little Mermaid) and a polor opposite to the Phoenix; vanity, selfishness, and water.

Fox and Rabbit: Also not in this picture, though in the old one (also will be added later). More representation of Yin and Yang, opposites. The hunter and the prey, chasing each other around the base of the tree in an endless circle.

Sun and Moon/Night and Day: Still need to add the reflection of the moon in the water (which is once again, in the older version...need to upload that...). Polor opposites, yin and yang. Night and day, sun and moon.

Time: 2-3 hours
Media: Pencil, India Ink, Copic Sketch Markers (the few I have anyway...XD)

This is an awesome concept, not many people take that much time into thinking what they want now a days. As a tattoo artist myself, I'm glad there are people still out there who look for meaning and heart in their work! it's beautiful by the way.
